Frequently Asked Questions

What is G P S?

It is the Golfer Positioning System, a set of principles and on course "plays" that help you use the course conditions to your advantage.

Who can benefit from learning G P S principles?

G P S is "scalable", which means it is important to all players, beginners as well as advanced players and professionals.  Beginners will better  understand their successes as well as failures, and advanced players and professionals will benefit by making better playing decisions and vastly improving ball striking on the course.

I'm a beginner - do I need G P S?

Every player needs to know some G P S.  For example, most are taught that the swing controls the ball.  Actually, on the range this might be true, but it all changes on the course - your best range swing can fail on the course because it is not flat. If you try to hit it straight while standing on a slope, you will probably be disappointed...

I'm an accomplished player - do I need G P S?

Absolutely.  For example, if your ball is 4 degrees above or below your feet it should go 30 feet (or 10 yards) off line.  Many players blame the swing and try to alter it on the next lie, only to be disappointed when that alteration doesn't work on that lie.

Each lie is different, and requires appropriate adaptations to be successful.

How many teaching pros are using G P S?

The program is very new, and we have about 15 Certified Pros so far.  We are putting the finishing touches on the new on-line Certification program for Teaching and Coaching professionals, and are actively looking for more pros to learn the system and work more on the course.

Some pros are using some of the playing principles whether they know it or not, but G P S provides an organized, concise, and effective perspective on playing the game on the course.

If you know pros who would be interested in the program, don't hesitate to forward the G P S web address and Certification information to them.  It's golfecoach.com/g-p-s-university/.
