Aggressive Passive Swing Release

  • The release can be aggressive or passive
  • If released on plane, either release will produce a straight shot
With a passive release players take energy and tension out of the arms and hands to allow the release of the energy into the ball. Whether it is released actively or passively, releasing it on plane completes the rotation.

When aggressively releasing on plane it may feel like a wrist snap, or pulling the club closer to the body. An aggressive release increases the forearm / shaft position in the follow through faster and the clubhead rotates faster.

Standing too far away from the ball inhibits the release, and makes it difficult to release on plane. Standing too close to the ball requires an aggressive release on plane. Standing in a balanced position allows for both an aggressive and passive release.

Balanced Set-Up / Aggressively or Passively Release.

Standing Too Close / Aggressively Release.

Standing Too Far Away More difficult to aggressively or passively release on plane.

Aggressive Release / Lower ball flight with a shorter finish with arms and hands pulled closer to the body.

Passive / Higher ball flight with a longer, higher finish. More potential for direction issues.
